Front End Developer Resume Example

Also called Frontend Engineer, UI Developer, React Developer.

A front end resume has to prove that people can actually use what you build: that it is fast, accessible and consistent. Framework names get you through the filter; measured results get you the interview.

Opens in the builder with this text in place, ready for you to replace with your own.

What this example does well

  • Performance is given in the metric browsers and search engines measure, with the business result next to it.
  • Accessibility is backed by a standard and a count of issues fixed, not claimed as a value.
  • The component library bullet says who uses it, which shows the work was adopted.

How do you write a summary for a front end developer resume?

Two to four lines at the top that say what you do, for how long, and what you are best at. Here is one for each stage of a career.

  • Entry level

Front end developer who learned by building: a portfolio of five React projects, including a budgeting app with 400 monthly users. Strong in HTML, CSS and TypeScript, careful about accessibility and quick to pick up a design system.

  • Experienced

Front end developer with four years in React and TypeScript. Builds fast, accessible interfaces, writes component and end-to-end tests, and works closely with designers from first sketch to release.

  • Senior

Senior front end engineer with ten years of experience. Leads the design system used by 70 engineers, set performance budgets that keep every page under two seconds on mobile, and coaches teams on accessibility.

What are good bullet points for a front end developer resume?

Each starts with a verb and says what was done. Change the details and numbers to your own; a number you cannot explain in an interview is worse than none.

  1. Built the customer dashboard in React and TypeScript, used by 45,000 people a month.

  2. Improved Largest Contentful Paint from 3.9 s to 1.7 s by optimizing images and deferring scripts.

  3. Created a shared component library documented in Storybook and adopted by three teams.

  4. Fixed accessibility issues to meet WCAG 2.2 AA, including keyboard navigation and screen reader labels.

  5. Reduced bundle size by 40% with code splitting and tree shaking.

  6. Wrote unit tests in Jest and end-to-end tests in Playwright covering the main user journeys.

  7. Turned Figma designs into responsive layouts that work from 320 px to wide desktop screens.

  8. Moved a legacy jQuery application to React one page at a time, with no feature freeze.

  9. Added error tracking and real-user monitoring to find and fix the slowest screens.

  10. Paired with backend engineers to design API responses that reduced round trips.

Which skills should a front end developer put on a resume?

Pick the ones the job posting asks for and that you can back up with an example from your work.

Hard skills

  • HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • TypeScript
  • React, Vue or Angular
  • Next.js or similar frameworks
  • Accessibility (WCAG, ARIA)
  • Web performance and Core Web Vitals
  • Testing (Jest, Playwright, Cypress)
  • Design systems and Storybook
  • Responsive design

Soft skills

  • Eye for detail
  • Working with designers
  • Empathy for users
  • Explaining trade-offs
  • Curiosity

Which keywords belong on a front end developer resume?

The words recruiters and applicant tracking systems search for.

  • React
  • TypeScript
  • Next.js
  • Largest Contentful Paint
  • WCAG
  • component library
  • Storybook
  • Playwright
  • responsive
  • bundle size

Use the ones that are true for you, written the way the posting writes them, and put each where it shows something you did. A list of keywords with nothing behind it helps nobody. To keep them readable by software, choose an ATS-friendly template, and read how applicant tracking systems read a resume.

How do you show front end skills on a resume?

Link to live work in the header, then describe results a user would feel. Load time, Core Web Vitals, conversion, accessibility audit results and adoption of your components are all measurable.

Name the framework in the bullet where you used it. "Rebuilt the checkout in React" does more than React in a list of twenty technologies.

Should a front end developer resume look designed?

It should look careful: consistent spacing, clear hierarchy, nothing misaligned. That already shows your eye. It does not need columns, icons or skill bars, which can confuse the software many companies use to read applications.

Save the visual flair for your portfolio, where you control how it is displayed.

What do technology employers look for in a resume?

  • Tie each tool to something you did with it. A skills list of twenty languages says little; a bullet that names the service you built in one of them says a lot.
  • Say what changed because of your work: a faster page, fewer incidents, a report that people now use every week.
  • Match the words in the job posting. If it says Kubernetes, write Kubernetes and not only "container orchestration", because screening software and tired recruiters both search for the exact word.

Questions about a front end developer resume

Do I need a portfolio as a front end developer?

It helps a lot, especially in the first years. Two or three real projects with a short note on what you built and why are better than ten tutorials.

Should I list every library I have used?

No. List what you would be happy to be interviewed on, and lead with what the posting asks for.

Is accessibility worth mentioning?

Yes. Many companies are required to meet accessibility standards, and developers who can do it well are in short supply.

How long should a front end developer resume be?

One page, with a link to your portfolio or GitHub for the rest.
