ATS Resume Checker
See your resume the way tracking software reads it: real text, contact details, standard headings, consistent dates and the key words of the job. Free, with no sign-up, and your resume never leaves your device.
Your results will appear here
Contact details, section headings, dates, length, numbers in your bullet points, phrases to replace and, with a posting, its key words.
What the checker looks at
The rules most applicant tracking systems and recruiters share.
Readable text
Whether your PDF or Word file contains real text. A scanned page or a resume saved as an image cannot be read by software at all.
Contact details
An email address and a phone number in the body of the page, where every system looks for them.
Standard section headings
Experience, Education and Skills, the names tracking systems use to sort a resume into a profile.
Consistent dates
One date format throughout, so every start and end date can be read the same way.
Length
Whether the resume is short enough to read and long enough to show what you did.
Numbers in your bullet points
How many lines show scale or results, the detail recruiters look for once software has found you.
Phrases to replace
Tired phrases such as "responsible for" or "team player" that say little about what you did.
Key words from the posting
With a job posting, which of its skills, tools and terms your resume already uses, and which are missing.
What it cannot tell you
This is not an applicant tracking system, and it does not imitate any particular one. Each employer sets up its software differently, and in most cases a person decides who moves forward. So the checker gives no score that claims to predict your chances.
What it does is catch the problems that most often stop software reading a resume properly, and show which words of a posting you have not used. Our guide to how applicant tracking systems read resumes explains the rest.
Questions
Is this ATS resume checker free?
Yes. There is no sign-up and no limit on how many times you check.
Do you keep a copy of my resume?
No. The file is read by your own browser and the checks run there. Nothing is uploaded to us or stored.
Why is there no ATS score?
Because no single number can predict what an employer's system and recruiters will do. Each system is set up differently. The checker shows the problems that most often stop software reading a resume, so you can fix them.
Which file should I check?
The file you plan to send, as a PDF or a Word document (.docx). Older .doc files cannot be read here; save them as .docx first.
Does a resume that passes every check get through any ATS?
No checker can promise that. Passing means the common reasons for a resume being misread are not there; the content still has to match the job.
